Coming by boat ...

New Bedford harbor has 84 moorings for boats from 25 to 50+ feet.  Daily rentals are $30-35 and a second rafted boat pays $15-20.

There is launch service in the harbor and the Port Authority Trolley Bus will provide shuttle service during the event.

Sailors wanting a slip instead of a mooring will be able to find transient facilities at the Fairhaven Shipyard Marina, the Popes Island Marina and Captain Leroy's Marina.  All will be offering discounted rates: mention the Catalina Rendezvous.

For a slip or mooring, contact New Bedford Harbor:
Ed Washburn or John Anderson 508-961-3000

Coming by land .........

Sailors preferring to travel by land and stay in a hotel will be able to reserve at the Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites on the harbor in New Bedford or at the Seaport Inn or the Hampton Inn and Suites in Fairhaven.

New Bedford Harbor:  The 2011 Catalina Rendezvous will be at New Bedford, Massachusetts July 29-31, 2011.  The New Bedford harbor is located at the mouth of the Acushnet River (41037.40’N 70054.31’W).  New Bedford is on the west side of the harbor, Fairhaven on the east.  According to the cruising guides, the harbor is busy, commercial, colorful and imbued with historic seafaring flavor.  “The harbor features a hurricane barrier that stretches across the water from the south end of New Bedford to the town of Fairhaven.  The barrier closes during storms and hurricanes.  As a result, the harbor is one of the safest havens on the eastern seaboard”.  There are several facilities for ice, water, fuel and pumpouts.

Rafted boat will be $15 / night.  Make your intentions clear when you make your reservation.  Moorings will be assigned on a first come basis, starting with Popes Island (North side of harbor, south of Popes Island) and then to the Gifford Street field (just north of Hurricane barrier).

            Saturday dinner

Exhibitors:  The list of exhibitors is not complete yet.  However, given the proximity of several major Boating Industry firms I expect there will be plenty to keep the Captains interested.

Other attractions; the list of guided tours is not complete yet.  However, I am told that there are lots of land attractions including the USCG Eagle which will be open to the public.
