The Flemmings (Rainbow) and the Zipetos (Summer Sun) are planning to cruise to the Boston Islands this summer and LISCA members are welcome to join us. There are several people that have expressed an interest in this cruise. The cruise plan will resemble the 2008 cruise to Maine, where seven other boats merged with us from time to time. That cruise did not have a firm day-to-day itinerary, but final plans were made a day or two ahead at cocktail hour or dinner.
Both Summer Sun and Rainbow will be cruising for over five weeks, starting around June 28. The first destination is likely to be Watch Hill (Rainbow expects to be there for the first half of that week and Summer Sun for the second half of that week). These two boats will make their way separately through Buzzards Bay and into Massachusetts Bay, with whoever would like to join either of us on the first leg of the journey. Rainbow and Summer Sun expect to meet in the Salem-Marblehead area, staying there for several days. We then plan to make our way south to cruise among the Boston Islands. There is no particular itinerary for this part of the cruise, but I will send anyone interested a shopping list of possible stops. After about two weeks in the Boston area, we will head back to Buzzards Bay for several days, with plans to arrive in Block Island around July 27. This will be in plenty of time for the start of the Catalina East Coast Rendezvous, scheduled for Block Island July 31 through August 2.
Those people that have an interest in this cruise should contact either Bonnie Zipeto or Bob Flemming (or our mates).
We will then send the current plan to you by email.
