Robin Hogen and Jan Schaefer got married aboard their boat, "Seaquel" on Sept. 18 in Ziegler's Cove, Darien, CT--the site of their first date more than three years ago! They had a minister and 7 family members aboard. It was a perfect day with glorious weather. I'm not sure if this is the first LISCA wedding-on-board, but the minister said it was the first ceremony he's performed on a boat.
As many of you know, "Seaquel" was formerly named "Amazing Grace," owned by Jerry and Denise Bassi. After the wedding ceremony on board, as Jan and Robin and their guests were drinking champagne and celebrating, a boat named "Amazing Grace" came by in the anchorage and rafted up with another boat that was next to Seaquel. Of course, it brought to mind Jerry and Denise, and the thought that they'd be pleased to know how much their boat is loved and cared for -- and that the boat was the chapel for this marriage ceremony at sea.
