You can register yourself then download weather data for anywhere in the world. The file will become a shortcut on your desktop. Once you select and download a file area, the arrows point to the wind direction and if you scroll/hover over them, it tells you direction and speed in the data box. It’s really cool information and updates all the time so you can download new files all day long if you want.
www.passageweather.com
This is similar to the grib files but offers more, such as wave height & direction, gulf stream info, cloud cover, precipitation, and wind info. It goes out a little farther than the grib file predictions and you can download the data to be able to view it later or once offshore to compare the actual conditions to predicted data. This is especially handy once you get some miles under your belt, you’ll have a better understanding of what to expect on passages based on the forecasts you are reading.
