SPIRITS'S BREAD (easy) By: Marie Genteale
Mix together:
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter or shortening
2 cups hot water

Directions:
In a small bowl stir: 1 tsp sugar into 1/2 cup of warm
water and sprinkle with 2 tbsp yeast.
When the hot water mixture cools, mix the contents of
the two bowls together.
Mix in 6 1/2 cups of flour (use white, wheat, whole grain flour or any mixture. I have not used rye, but I am
sure it will work).
Knead into a ball and place in a greased bowl.
Punch d
own after 10 minutes. Repeat the process 5 times.
Divide the dough into two balls and let it rest for 10
minutes.
Roll or pat the dough down into 1/2 in thick rectangles
and then roll up like a jelly roll.
Seal the ends and seams.
I place both breads side-by- side in a greased 9x13 pan, or they can be placed on a greased cookie sheet With a sharp knife, core 4 diagonal slices across the top of each bread. Let rise until double, or close to it. Bake 400 F for 30 minutes
